Terms of service

Last updated: April 2026

1. Service description

Flokk provides managed PostgreSQL database hosting on European infrastructure. Each database includes a primary instance, a read replica, connection pooling via PgBouncer, automated backups, and DNS-level TLS verification (DANE/DNSSEC).

2. Account and access

You must provide accurate registration information. You are responsible for the security of your account credentials, API keys, and database passwords. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use the service for illegal purposes, to store or distribute malware, to conduct denial-of-service attacks, or to mine cryptocurrency. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate this policy.

4. Data processing

When you store personal data in your databases, we act as a data processor on your behalf. Our obligations as processor are set out in our Data Processing Agreement.

5. Service levels

We target 99.9% monthly uptime for database availability. Planned maintenance windows are communicated at least 48 hours in advance. Automatic failover minimises downtime during unplanned incidents.

6. DORA-aligned provisions

For financial entity customers subject to the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA):

  • Detailed service description and data processing locations are documented in this agreement and the DPA.
  • Incident notification: we notify affected customers of significant ICT incidents within 24 hours of confirmation.
  • Exit strategy: you may export your data via pg_dump at any time. Connection strings use standard PostgreSQL — no vendor lock-in.
  • Audit rights: we provide access to relevant security documentation. On-site audits may be arranged for Dedicated tier customers.
  • Sub-processor changes: 30 days advance notice with right to object.
  • Business continuity: documented disaster recovery and failover procedures, tested annually.

7. Pricing and billing

Prices are listed at flokk.dev/#pricing in euros. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Mollie. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.

8. Data portability and deletion

You may export your database via pg_dump at any time through the dashboard or API. Upon account deletion, all databases, backups, and personal data are removed within 30 days. Invoices are retained per tax law.

9. Limitation of liability

Our liability is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for data loss caused by your actions, force majeure, or third-party service failures beyond our control.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Oslo, Norway.

11. Changes

We may update these terms with 30 days notice via email. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance.
